A quick sugar snap pea update!
We sowed these on 26 April, and the first signs of them germinating was on 2 May, so just under a week.
We had been checking on them each day to see whether they’d germinated. When we sowed them, we covered with a couple of sheets of newspaper to exclude the light. It’s important that once the seeds have started to germinate that they are given sunlight to help the seedlings grow strong and photosynthesise.
Therefore, when we saw a few shoots were poking up, we removed the newspaper and these will now grow on in a cold greenhouse to provide them with some protection against any cold nights we might still have.
Fingers crossed it won’t be too long before more shoots start to appear!
