Our Toughball onions were ready to harvest last week. They didn’t get quite as big as we would’ve liked, but never mind. They weren’t going to grow any more now, as their tops had laid over.
We’ve hung them in our arbour (tops and roots still attached) to dry out. Once they’re dry we can store them indoors to use throughout the winter – if they last that long that is!

We also harvested our first Salt and Pepper cucumber. Needless to say, it ended up as weird looking as it started! But we can confirm that it very much tastes like cucumber and for an “outdoor looking” cucumber, i.e. one with the little spines on its skin, it has a very soft, thin skin. We’re looking forward to some more coming along now!
