A further update on our outdoor container crops

It’s still a bit cold for lots of vegetables outside at the moment, especially because of the frosts we seem to keep having overnight! However, we’ve got some relatively hardy crops that we started off a month or so ago.

The Little Gem lettuces are not quite as far along as perhaps they would’ve been if we’d been able to grown them under protection. However, they still seem to be doing alright for themselves considering. We’ll have to see how they progress over the next few weeks, and whether they start to heart up or not. Otherwise, no problem! We’ll simply eat them as salad leaves instead.

Then we’ve got the Falco turnips and Paris Market Atlas carrots. Turnips are relatively fast growing compared to carrots, as you can see. However, they’re both progressing nicely and just need a bit of water every couple of days to stop the compost drying out.
